In the Shop: White Lacquer Armoire

This White Maple Armoire was designed for a client in Hoboken, NJ and features a sleek, hardware-free look. The doors open with a push, the drawers have sculpted handhold cutouts.

In this second drawing, a similar handhold is shown in the left door, but after the piece came together we were able to share a video of the doors in action. The decision was made to skip the asymmetrical door handhold, since it wasn’t needed. The chrome hanging bar is now in place in the upper section.

Manhattan Hallway built-ins

Last week we spent a couple hours installing a new Walnut bookcase in a home in Manhattan. At the same time, we were able to re-visit the Ash Mudroom built-in at the other end of the same hallway. It’s always fun to see our work in use, and this piece looks like it comes in mighty handy for stashing coats, boots, and whatever is needed by the door.

The bookcase was built in four sections that went seamlessly back together after a trip up the elevator. The walnut base was carefully scribed to fit around the existing baseboard for a very custom fit.

In the Shop: Walnut Bookcase

Currently in the woodshop, this Walnut bookcase awaits delivery to Manhattan. It was built in four sections with two fixed shelves plus the bottom, and twelve adjustable shelves. The exposed end features flush modern construction and clean, simple trim. The entire piece is constructed of solid Pennsylvania Walnut lumber.

Also well underway is a large kitchen for an addition in New Hope.

Drawing for Armoire, Bookcase

Regency-Armoire

This drawing of a custom armoire is for a client in Hoboken, NJ who wanted something in the Hollywood Regency style to house items for her baby, expected later this spring.

The feet, apron, doors, and drawers are subtly curved. The bottom drawers provide storage for the parents, too. The Knob back plates may be this brass deco piece against a gloss white lacquer.

This walnut bookcase will live down the hall from the Manhattan Mudroom built-in.

Built-In Window seats

We have built a few custom windowseats over the years and they are such wonderfully useful built-ins. They provide seating and storage at an inviting, well-lit location, perfect for reading.

The white window seat shown here was installed in a client’s residence in Malvern, Pennsylvania horse country.

It featured five large drawers; one with a with custom lift-out wooden tray for storing smaller items above. The drawer fronts are raised panels and the fluted stiles help complete the traditional look.

The warmer, cream-colored window seat demonstrates a custom shape, other than the more frequently seen rectangle. This more simple and modern-looking piece was well-used in a lake house kitchen. The drawers stored games and toys and whatever needed to be hidden away. The pulls are matching wood. Installed over a transition between the tile and cork floors, the windowseat is a perfect fit!

Do you have a spot that could benefit from a beautiful and functional window seat? They enhance any room and can be tailored to every decor.

Roll out nightstand under side cabinet

This Custom Walnut Murphy Bed, commissioned by interior designer Adele Danziger, features a bookcase and roll out nightstand, and has matching wooden pulls. The piece, which measures 96” tall 83” wide 18” deep, houses a queen bed in an addition on a historic Bucks County farmhouse. The cut out in the nightstand counter provides a convenient handhold for getting in and out of bed.

In the shop: Walnut Wall bed, Sassafras headboard

In progress, to be delivered next week, we have this beautiful Walnut Murphy Bed. The design of the front is new, and it features a sculpted wood handle. The curved horizontal element flips 90 degrees to become the foot of the bed when it is folded down. Under the bookcase is a roll out nightstand.

Also awaiting finish and delivery is this Sassafras King Sized headboard. It will get a dark stain to match the existing bedroom furniture in a Montgomery County, PA home.

Campaign Dresser Feedback

DSC01863-1

We received a lovely note from a client this morning in our inbox. It is always nice to hear that the work is appreciated in our client’s space and life.

Interior design pro Ilana Cohen commissioned this white campaign dresser for her new daughter’s nursery. Thank you for the feedback!

It looks really sharp with the white/ bright color scheme.

She wrote:

“Just wanted to send some photos of the dresser in Zoe’s room.

I am still thrilled with it!!!”
