Reclaimed Barn Beam Walnut Desk

In between the custom jobs that have long been our bread and butter (where many of the details are dictated by client desires), it is always gratifying to mix in a piece that comes straight out of the craftsman’s imagination and the quirks of the materials at hand.

When a nearby barn underwent some refurbishing, Adam was able to acquire some reclaimed chestnut beam sections. One of these hand hewn antique beams has been utilized as a leg in this unique and asymmetrical desk. The other end features a waterfall edge fabricated from walnut.

The desk top slab has been carved by nature- the tunnels of insects long gone from the kiln dried wood are fascinating and of course, one of a kind. In the center there is a single drawer. The top will be protected with a piece of glass with polished edges. This piece would also make a great hall table or console.

Our Queen Size Ash Wallbed is looking mighty sharp in our schoolhouse gallery in upstate Pennsylvania. This piece has paneled sides, matching crown molding, and is painted Wickham Gray on the inside. It is available for purchase and can be shipped nationwide.

Up next in the woodshop are two additional wallbeds- one Maple, one Walnut. Wallbeds are a useful addition to any home and can accomodate the mattress you already own, or any mattress up to 12″ thick.

The latest completed piece of furniture out of the Springhouse Woodshop is this gorgeous Gloss Black Campaign Dresser with a removable tray top.

Adam built one for a client near Seattle, and a second for our Furniture Studio. Featuring seven dovetailed drawers on soft close self closing slides housed in a dovetailed case on a dovetailed stand, she’s solid all around and certainly beautiful.

Nickel-plated Solid brass campaign trim and handles.

Waterfall Maple Benches

This pair of handcrafted Solid Pennsylvania Maple Benches would pair perfectly with the Trestle Table– or wherever you please!

The lovely chunky Maple (1 5/8″ thick!), finished in Satin Lacquer, is mitered at each corner creating a waterfall edge where the grain flows to the ground.

Measuring 68 3/4” long x 18” high x 12” wide, the benches tuck away neatly to save space, then pull out easily to provide seating for up to 3 people.

Available seperately or as a pair. Could also be built from Pennsylvania Ash or Walnut.

Our furniture gallery in upstate PA allows our potential clients the oppertunity to see and touch the real deal before deciding to make a purchase. Feel the smooth motion of soft-closing self-close slides, see the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship.

We have two beautiful space saving Queen size Murphy Beds on display. One is Walnut, the other is Ash, both constructed from sustainably harvested Pennsylvania lumber, with crown molding and stunning paneled fronts and sides, using state of the art piston hardware (10 year warranty on hardware). The pulls are crafted of matching wood. Interiors and headboards are painted Benjamin Moore’s Wickham Gray.

Mattress not included- but will fit any Queen mattress less than 12″ thick. The dimensions on these beds are 94″ tall x 67″ wide x 17 1/4″ deep. When opened they extend 84″ from the wall.

N.B. The Walnut Bed now resides happily in Chelsea, NYC. We still have the Ash one on display and can build new Murphy Beds in Walnut or other woods. Send a note if you’re interested!
