Here is a modern Maple vanity for a pair of bathroom sinks. The finish is a clear lacquer which allows the unadorned natural beauty of the Maple to shine. Satin Nickel knobs and nine dovetailed solid Poplar drawers were used in this custom West Chester, PA piece.

Custom Maple Murphy Bed
This Maple Murphy bed and matching dresser with octagonal mirror make good use of space in an apartment on the upper east side of Manhattan.
The Maple has a light rosy stain that compliments the parquet oak floor. Each of the nine dresser drawers glide on a soft-close self-closing drawer slide. The bookcase by the bed has a push-to-open door at the bottom and a slide out shelf to use as a nightstand for a reading lamp, book, and glass of water.
No metal hardware was used to keep the look clean, modern, and minimal.

In The Shop: Painted Wardrobe
The painted mirrored wardrobe is coming along in the shop. When the piece is installed, there will be filler strips on each side to meet up with the walls and crown molding at the top. For hardware, the large pullout will be getting the Hanson pull from Restoration Hardware in Antique brass, and the drawers will get the matching knob.
Adaptable Drop Leaf Oval Table
A designer in NYC found our drop leaf harvest table in a google images search and thought it would be nice for a Manhattan apartment that she was renovating.
The clients had another table in mind, something they had seen and loved but was no longer available for sale. These pictures below are of the original table that they liked. We changed the design a bit for size and eliminated the fifth leg. Our table also has an apron under the leaf, unlike the original.
The table is built of Walnut with a Maple inlay and edge. With the leaf in, it is a dining table for four. With the leaf removed and the outer leaves dropped, it is a small hall table. It is a lovely delicate looking piece. In front of a real seamless backdrop, it would look dynamite! I’m sure it will look great in the apartment, too.
Drop Leaf Unique Harvest Table
Stained to a spicy warm brown, this Maple drop-leaf table does double duty. It can serve handily as either a narrow hallway table, or as a dining table. I’ve used one with one leaf down as a roomy desktop. The handsome design is a Springhouse original with an arched base.

Maryland Built-Ins
These two matching natural maple bookshelf built-ins are finally in place in a Maryland home. The smaller piece is ho me to the computer printer, and the larger one houses a sizable television. This project was in the design phase for a long time, since the homeowners wanted to be sure that they were getting a product that suited their needs and home perfectly. The result is a classic and clean-lined balance between modern and traditional look. Wiring is all neatly hidden and the components are tucked away behind antique wavy glass.
Ready to Go
The lacquered Maple Bookcase and Entertainment Unit built-ins are just about complete and ready to go to their new home in Maryland. The homeowners chose solid brass knobs and bin pulls in antique nickel from Lee Valley. These pieces promise to make a dramatic upgrade to the room they will grace.
Meanwhile, two built-ins are being created for a home in Philadelphia. They will be delivered next week and painted on site.
In the shop: Bookcase Built-Ins
The built-in bookcase and entertainment unit are coming along. In the top photos, you can see the drawings on the old schoolhouse chalkboard for the two cabinets this job entails. The first two versions of the design for this project can be seen here and here. In the third shot, the plywood boxes have been put together. In the last shot, Maple face frames are in the process of going on. The substantial shelves are fixed for a balanced symmetrical look as well as superior strength.
