Custom white desk and closet built-in, NYC

Yesterday, these two custom bedroom built-ins were installed- and they made a welcome upgrade to a boy’s bedroom on the Upper West Side. The desk was built to match his sister’s, with a file drawer, pencil drawer, dimmable LED strip lighting, bookshelves and more.

The closet has a new central unit featuring an integral step up that doubles as a nook for organizing shoes. There are four sections for hanging clothes, twelve open adjustable cubbies, and four dovetailed drawers on soft close self closing undermount slides. All painted white with waterborne lacquer.

This morning we received a note from the client reading: “J. loves his desk and closet. Thanks!”

Manhattan TV cabinet

Bright and early this morning, this impressive floor to ceiling built-in bookcase and TV cabinet went on its way to Manhattan. Comissioned by Mona Ross Berman Interiors, with hardware by Restoration hardware and waterborne lacquer in Benjamin Moore White Dove, a 40″ Samsung TV will go in the center and three satin nickel lamps will be mounted below the crown molding.

Measuring 6′ 1″ wide and 9′ tall, the piece features beaded adjustable shelves and inset door openings that really dress the cabinet up. It will be scribed into the existing trim so that it looks as if it was always there.

Campaign Furniture for the Study

Three custom Mahogany pieces of campaign furniture are nearing completion for a Philadelphia client of architect Mark B. Thompson Associates.

Two filing cabinets- one lateral and one standard configuration as well as a side table with drawer have been stained to join some existing campaign furniture already in the room. Antique brass hardware completes the look. The drawer sides are rated at 200 lb capacity each to meet the demands of piles of papers.

Lumber for this project was selected at the nearby Mooretown Mill.

Walnut Bread Bowl

From a noble tree that grew for decades, drawing nourishment from the moist soil of the forest,

come the striations of grain, subtle shades of brown imbued with sunlight

which become something to cherish, bringing a bit of the beauty and mystery of the woods into our homes

(new one of a kind display piece with a gentle curve perfect for a table centerpiece or on a hall table)

Rocking Chair Prototype

In reverse order, these images show a new rocking chair evolving from a model built out of 2” thick extruded foam to a solid Hard Maple prototype.

Hard Maple, or Sugar Maple, is sometimes referred to as Rock Maple- because it really is that durable.

The design is decidedly scaled up from your grandmother’s delicate rocker. With a sculpted seat, she rocks like a dream.

Black + Cherry Kitchen and Vanities

These are some progress snapshots of the amazing timberframed home in Orangeville, PA where our latest custom kitchen has been installed. The Italian stove is a showpiece and the Kitchen Island with canitlevered light by Restoration Hardware stands out. The Island will allow seating on three sides and serve as the sole dining table.

Two bathroom vanities are also in. The Master bath double sink vanity boasts a substantial Black frame with Walnut drawers. The smaller bath has a spalted poplar vanity with a Mexican ceramic sink. The details of the house are coming together and we will get some finished images when things are settled.

Custom Radiator Cover, Pine Street — Installed Radiator cover with Marble top

This beautiful home in Philadelphia had a dramatic wainscotted entryway with sophisticated details- with the exception of one glaring radiator.

Now the radiator is tucked away under marble, hidden behind a pretty piece of woodworking with curves, angles, and raised panel inset drawers (Chippendale pulls by House of Antique Hardware) – all painted Benjamin Moore Mascarpone.

Spalted Poplar Campaign Style Media Cabinet

In a unique take on the campaign chest, this version of our Campaign Style Media Stand combines a bright white dovetailed case with spalted Poplar doors and drawer fronts. The trim and flush handles are solid polished brass. All the wires and components are neatly hidden.
